More Channels!

Crossposted to ericmrozek.com

Hi everyone,

It’s a brand new year, so it’s time to announce that we will be expanding our efforts on Youtube and elsewhere both as an extension of what we are already doing and as a way to deal with the continuing troubles of COVID-19. The two channels will be named Free Eagle Studios, LLC and Eric Mrozek, but they’ll focus on different aspects of our work.

Our company channel will primarily focus on our services, writing diaries, and Youtube ads for our upcoming books, so be sure to follow that one if you’re interested in the publishing side of our efforts.

On the other hand, Eric Mrozek will heavily supplement or outright replace our writing work on ericmrozek.com with video essays about movies and television. You’ll still see them posted over there, but you can also subscribe to our other pages if you’d rather watch.

Save That Play will also be going strong into the new year, but we want to make sure that you’ll always have something to look at, even if it’s not related to gaming.

We’ll almost certainly start posting videos on both of our new channels this month, so keep on the look out!

Until next time!

On our editing side, we’ve added Payoneer to our list of payment services for the first time. While we are still willing to use PayPal, we’ve found that this platform is a good alternative for us and our prospective clients.

In addition, we’ve doubled down on our support for cryptocurrency by bringing Bitpay back into our arsenal. This platform supports Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash, so be sure to ask about it when you send us an inquiry!

In the writing realm, we’ve recently added the marketing description for RevolutionBe sure to check it out!

Free Eagle Studios - Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here?

A few days ago, we passed our first birthday as a company. While we have had our ups and downs, we thought we’d share with you a little bit about where we have been and what we intend to do in between now and our second birthday. Needless to say, it’s been a hell of a ride.

Where We’ve Been.

Over the course of the past year, we’ve released one novel and a short story. Destruction has received great reviews from the start, mostly in the range of 4 to 5 stars. It has been a while since we returned to that place in the world of Maereath, but more on that when we point out where we are going. The team is quite pleased with the product, and we are looking forward to seeing where we go next.

Independence has proven to be a much harder sell, but we expected some difficulties in marketing a short story to the world. Despite this, we intend to continue to use the property and the short stories that emerge from it as a low cost way to try out our products. However, we are going to be restructuring our original plan for the sequels to that short and push back the release for the time being.

You may have noticed that we have also partnered up with Amazon, which has given us a few more tools to exploit in our quest to expand this company. For the time being, we intend to market exclusively on Kindle, as it represents well over 90% of our business across all territories worldwide.

Where We Are Going.

We are pleased to announce that the sequels to Destruction are going to be released much sooner than you think. We thought about delivering both of the books at the same time, but we have decided to space out their release dates and give them time to make their way out into the world. Rest assured, they will both be available before Q3 2016 is out.

We are also proud to announce that the sequels to Independence are projected for release in the fourth quarter of this year or Q1 2017, depending upon the time investment required. Initially, we thought about delivering six separate stories over time, but we’ve decided to change up this plan and combine the various stories into two full volumes. The first will lead to the conclusion of the Fiean Revolution. The second will at least partially bridge the gap between that saga and The War of the Democratic Coalition.

We also have a few surprises coming your way on the merchandising front, but it is going to take some time as we are still sifting through the designs. When we have some more information, we will have a new branch of our site for you to explore!

Be sure to follow us on Twitter. We love to chat with our fans!

Accepting Submissions and a Store Update

Hi everyone,

We are pleased to announce that we are now taking unsolicited queries for e-books. For more information, check out the submissions page on the toolbar above.

Also, we’ve decided to combine the various formats of all of the stories that are sold on this site into a single bundle. We think it adds a bit more value to each purchase, but it also removes a bit of clutter from the store.

More news coming soon!

Deadline Extended

We’ve decided to extend the deadline for our 99 cent sale until the end of the week (at least). This will give all of our advertising partners a good shot at getting through to any potential customers that we might have.

That is all.

Inside Destruction – Part Three – Brothers and Sisters.

Crosspost from ericmrozek.com.

The development of the main cast of Destruction came about from an effort to make the fantasy genre as accessible to the masses as humanly possible. While some of my reasoning for it may have been based around profitability, I think that one aspect of fantasy that puts people off of it is the fact that it is often based around an enormous main cast. For instance, I like Game of Thrones as a show, but it represents a prime example of a saga where a vast cast can be detrimental to the story. Some of the characters may be relatable to the audience because we spend a lot of time with them, but others are of questionable importance because they are given scant side stories or plots that are completely dropped out of nowhere.

When crafting Destruction, I felt that the best solution to get around this problem and bring in new fans would be to think small. I wanted to build a small, intimate, and very personal story that is based around a tight cast. Therefore, I developed the concept of a diary that dealt with the lives of our two main characters: Helisah and Aegras Almari.

Like almost every character, Helisah and Aegras emerged primarily from my desire to be challenged when it comes to writing a story, but that is not the only reason why they exist. Since Helisah is our point-of-view character, it made sense to me to develop their relationship as the cornerstone of the novel because we are often defined by our associations with family and friends in the real world. One such example that came to mind for me was how most people may bicker with their siblings, but you know that they will always care about one another through hell and high water. By taking that and mixing it up with a little bit of telepathy, I’d like to think that I created a fantasy version of something that is all too familiar in our day-to-day lives, which helps to reduce the need to suspend disbelief and enjoy the story. Now, as for the supporting cast, that is another story for another time…

To Be Continued in Part 4.
